Labradorite
One of the signature design elements of the Margaret Elizabeth jewelry collection is the use of labradorite stones in most of our jewelry styles. With a base color of gray flecked with black, labradorite features a stunning iridescence in shades of green, blue, and even purple. Each stone is naturally unique so no two rings, necklaces, or pair of earrings will be exactly the same, making them particularly special to the wearer.
Considered the best stone for fighting off an existential crisis, labradorite has a mystical lore. Although named in the modern era for the Labrador region of Canada where the stone was first discovered and mined, the native peoples of Canada believed for centuries that the stone was created from frozen fire, a result of the northern lights, or Aurora Borealis. Labradorite reminds us to keep it magical by linking us to the spirit world, a dimension where anything is possible.
Our owner and designer, Meg, has always been drawn to labradorite and has made it a long-standing focus of her designs. "I love the grey tone, it's iridescence, and that it picks up other colors. I also love that each stone has its own unique vibe."
